Before installation
A calm setup begins with a clean, compatible server. Use this guide to prepare the environment before installing or migrating to HudsonPanel.
HudsonPanel is designed to manage a server as a complete hosting environment. Begin with a fresh VPS or dedicated server rather than adding it beside another control panel. Existing panels, web stacks, or manually customized mail services can compete for ports, packages, and configuration files.
Root SSH access is required for installation and server-level management. Keep the root credentials private and confirm you can connect before beginning.
Use a currently supported 64-bit Ubuntu LTS release on a clean installation. Apply operating-system updates and reboot if the kernel was upgraded before installing HudsonPanel.
Begin with at least 2 CPU cores, 4 GB of memory, and 40 GB of SSD storage. Production servers, busy mail workloads, and multiple accounts benefit from additional memory and storage.
The server needs a dedicated public IPv4 address, working outbound internet access, and inbound access to the standard web, DNS, mail, FTP, and SSH service ports you intend to use.
Choose a fully qualified hostname such as server.example.com. Point its DNS record to the server and make sure forward and reverse DNS are aligned, especially when the server will send email.
Nameservers, account domains, and mail records should be planned before launch. DNS changes can take time to propagate, so migrations are easier when existing TTL values are lowered in advance. For reliable outbound mail, request matching reverse DNS from the server provider and verify that port 25 is not blocked.
A firewall should permit only the services the server uses. If an upstream cloud firewall is enabled, its rules must agree with the local server firewall.
